Research and Development Project
At present time in JSC NRCSC are realized two research and development projects within the frame of budget program “Basic and applied research”:
1. By the theme “Indicators of immune inflammatory process and genetic markers of sudden cardiac death at patient with ventricular heart rhythm disturbance and atrial fibrillation” (lead time 2011—2014 with the budget of 43 million KZT in 2012 and 79 million KZT in 2013).
2. By the theme “Study of efficiency and safety of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in treatment of severe forms of heart and respiratory failure” (lead time 2012—2014 with yearly budget in 17 million KZT).
On July 23-25, 2012 within the project by the theme “Indicators of immune inflammatory process and genetic markers of sudden cardiac death at patient with ventricular heart rhythm disturbance and atrial fibrillation” the master class for participants of the project was organized. Experts from Graz Medical University (Austria) were invited by whom lectures were given on the following subjects:
Dr Christian Guelly:
1. One Decade of Genome-Wide Association Studies since the Human Genome Project
2. Heritable Genetic Syndromes in Cardiology–Genes involved in Cardiac Disorder
3. Key infrastructures for integrated top-level research
4. Challenges in Genetic/Genome Research
Prof. Berthold Huppertz:
1. Consideration and Recommendations for the Creation of Biobanks in Cardiology
2. Biobank Graz, an update on infrastructure
3. Biobanking Initiatives on a National and European level
Lectures allowed participants of the project understand a role of genetic researches in cardiology better, their value and application. Also to understand the principles of conducting genetic researches, their features and types. Information on inherited genetic syndromes of heart diseases and prospect of genetic researches in this direction was provided to participants. Also at lecture about biobank its main task – accumulation in the centralized order of biological materials for further work of researchers was emphasized. The biobank infrastructure was presented in Graz (Austria). During master classes lecturers answered on many questions of participants of the project. Also between researchers and lecturers took place a discussion of planned within project genetic and immunological researches, a choice of an optimum technique of carrying out these researches.
Scientific congresses
On April 1-2, 2012 on the basis of JSC NRCSC the 1st congress of intervention cardiologists and radiologists was carried out. In work of congress took part leading experts of Kazakhstan and the neighboring countries in area of intervention cardiology and X-ray surgery. Participants of congress discussed relevant topics on development of intervention cardiology in Kazakhstan, problems of coronary surgery, and also modern techniques of treatment.
On September 2-6, 2012 the 1st National congress of cardiac surgeons was organized. The purposes of the congress were as association of specialists doctors of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of cardiac surgery (adult and children's), intervention cardiology, cardiology and rehabilitation, nuclear medicine, and association of workers of the average medical personnel of cardiologic and cardiac surgery services in section on nurse business (for the first time). In work of the Congress took part, both the Kazakhstan experts, and leading cardiac surgeons from the USA, Europe, Turkey, Israel and CIS countries, such as Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
Within the frame of congress master-class was carried out with participation of Paul Serzhant, the former president of the European association of cardiothoracic surgery, the director of Levensky School of retraining of OPCAB (Belgium). Also Dr. Marko Turina participated in a master class, the former president of the European association of cardiothoracic surgery. Within the congress other master classes with participation of foreign experts were carried out: by nurse business, by pediatric cardiac surgery, by chronic heart failure.
More than 400 participants took part in work of the Congress, both from republic regions, and from the cities of Almaty and Astana. Cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, resuscitators, perfusionists, intervention cardiologists, also the average medical personnel represented the various medical organizations, scientific centers, associations and private clinics. In total participants from 48 Kazakhstan organizations and 19 foreign organizations were presented.
Delegates from the central and regional bodies of health care, Nazarbayev University, Presidential Administration, the Governments of RK and Akimat of Astana also were invited to the Congress.
Scientific conferences
On November 9, 2012 Conference of young scientists was organized and held, dated to the first anniversary of formation of JSC “National Research Cardiac Surgery Center”. In conference reports were made by 13 young specialists of the Center from presentations of the last achievements in the field of cardiac surgery. The invited delegates took part in work of conference from other Kazakhstan centers, hospitals and clinics.
Scientists of the Center also are participants of many international conferences where submit their reports. So at the 2nd international scientific conference on a subject: "The regenerative medicine and qualitative macrobiosis", passing on November 1—2, 2012 in Nazarbayev University where were presented two reports from JSC NRCSC:
1. “Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation technologies” (lecturer Candidate of Medical Science T.D. Lesbekov)
2. “Assisted devices and total artificial heart” (lecturer S.T. Bebosinov)
Session of scientific and methodic council
For December, 2012: 12 meetings are held of a scientific council and 10 meetings of methodical council.
