ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF MEDICINE IN KAZAKHSTAN IN THE FIELD OF CARDIAC SURGERY

All medical personnel of the Center has been preparing for this event for three years. A lot of hard work has been done to improve patient care in accordance with international standards.
The audit was carried out according to the fifth edition of the book of standards of JCI. It is the latest update of requirements of the Joint Commission International on accreditation. JCI inspectors paid special attention to the quality assurance program for medical care, professional level of medical and non-medical personnel, ethical issues, administrative management of the clinic and safety rules. Reliability of services, level of protection of patients and their relatives, organization of safe working conditions for personnel, infrastructure of the Center and a lot of other parameters were also checked. Experts noted the high quality of work of all departments of the cardiac surgery center.
Therefore, “National Research Cardiac Surgery Center” JSC is the first medical institution in the field of cardiac surgery in Kazakhstan, which has received the status of the clinic of international level with absolute guarantee of trust and excellent reputation in medical world.
Joint Commission International (JCI) is an international non-governmental non-profit organization, the mission of which is to continually increase the reliability and quality of medical services in international community through educational and consulting services and international accreditation and certification. It is the largest and oldest medical controlling organization in the world. It was established in USA in 1917 and as of today it is the most prestigious accrediting organization.
“National Research Cardiac Surgery Center” JSC is a modern world-class clinic specializing in the diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases. At the moment, a full range of surgeries on the heart and vessels is carried out for adults and children at the Center, including surgeries of the highest category of complexity. One of the main objectives of the Center is integration of international medical science and practice, which gives professionals of the Center the opportunity for implementation of advanced scientific inventions. Diversity of activities allows the Center becoming the key institution not only in Kazakhstan, but also in Central Asia.
As of today, more than 800 medical workers work at the Center, including 129 doctors of various clinical specialties.
In the last two years more than 100 surgeries on implantation of the left ventricle of heart were carried out to patients with severe congestive heart failure on the basis of “National Research Cardiac Surgery Center” JSC. Almost all of patients, who had the surgery, are people of working age. In spite of existing disability, today they return to an active life. 91% of them are men, whose average age is about 50.
The Center is developing as the national brand in cardiac surgery. From the date of establishment of the capital’s cardiac surgery center 11 surgeries on transplantation of donor heart have been carried out.
At the beginning of the year the tenth anniversary heart transplantation was carried out, where the recipient of the donor heart was a woman for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan’s cardiac surgery.
Foreign colleagues are very interested in the best international model of health care service, scientific practice and successful results of domestic cardiac surgeons, so, they more often come to the center for training with the aim to complete research and practice internship and to share experience. This clearly provides evidence of recognition of Kazakhstan’s cardiac surgery by countries of the near and far abroad.
