On May 16, 2023, the first school of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) “Advanced Course in Clinical Lipidology” was organized at the Heart Center. The event was held in a hybrid format with the participation of more than 180 doctors, including regional coordinators for lipidology, cardiologists from Kazakhstan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Belarus. Leading experts from Kazakhstan and European countries performed as speakers.
The initiators of the European School on Atherosclerosis were the regional Expert Council on Atherosclerosis, including the main freelance specialists of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, heads of advanced research centers and heads of departments of medical universities. The opening of the lipidology school in our country was the beginning of the annual training courses, where participants are given access to the EAS Academy educational platform.
The Expert Council is working on the development of a strategy for the improvement of medical care in the regions of Kazakhstan. Thus, one of these initiatives was the Roadmap for Atherosclerosis, within which it is planned to open lipid centers at the outpatient level, develop and implement modern clinical protocols and other measures to improve the provision of care to patients with lipid metabolism disorders.
Also, from May 21 to 24, within the framework of the EAS Congress, Professor Makhabbat Bekbossynova, Chief Cardiologist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will hold meetings with the President of EAS, Professor K.
