Participation in the EACTS 2022 International Summit in Berlin
05.12.2022From November 17 to 19, 2022, specialists of the Heart Center participated in the 6th International EACTS Summit on Mechanical circulatory support in Berlin, Germany. The EACTS Summit is one of the most prestigious events in medicine and the participation of the Heart Center among the honored guests is not only a great honor for the entire team, but also an indicator of the recognition of the Heart Center by the global medical community.
EACTS – the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery annually unites leading surgeons, perfusiologists and medical specialists from all over the world. The purpose of the association is to promote research in the field of cardiovascular diseases and therapy, to disseminate the results for the benefit of society.
Svetlana Novikova, head of the Department for Cardiac Surgery 2 of the Heart Center, spoke at the summit as a moderator of a session dedicated to discussing complex cases and creative solutions, and also presented a report on the new possibility of implanting a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to patients who had previously undergone a heart valve replacement. This technology has been developed by the team of the Heart Center quite recently and has already found successful application in the treatment of patients. Cardiologist Nail Khissamutdinov presented a poster report and shared Kazakhstani experience in the treatment of COVID-19 in patients with LVAD.
Also during the trip, the team of the Heart Center visited the Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin medical center, got acquainted with the specificities of their work in the treatment of chronic heart failure and participated in operations under the direction of Professor Evgeniy Potapov.
